Accessibility Statement
People reach this site in a hurry, at bad hours, on whatever device is nearest. It should work for all of them. Here is where we stand and how to tell us when something doesn't.
Call 940-381-0338. A person answers 24 hours a day and can do over the phone anything this website does. Look up a booking, confirm bail, take the information for a bond. You never have to fight a web page to get help from us.

What we're aiming at
We work to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and by most public-sector procurement in the United States. We treat it as a floor rather than a finish line, and we test against it when the site changes rather than once at launch.
What we've built in
Keyboard access throughout
Every menu, accordion, link and form field can be reached and operated without a mouse, including the dropdown navigation. A visible focus outline shows where you are.

The first thing a keyboard or screen reader encounters is a link past the navigation, so you are not tabbing through a menu on every page.
Readable contrast and real text
Body and heading colors meet or exceed the 4.5:1 requirement. Content is real text, not pictures of text, so it reflows and enlarges cleanly.
Structure a screen reader can use
Landmarks, one heading per level in order, labeled form fields, described images, and a titled map frame.
Large tap targets on phones
Navigation and calling links are sized for thumbs, because most people find this site on a phone in the middle of the night.
Respects reduced motion
If your device asks for reduced motion, smooth scrolling and transitions are turned off.
Where we know we fall short
Stating this plainly is more useful than claiming full conformance:
- The embedded Google Maps frame is a third-party component we do not control. The full address is written out in text in the footer and on the contact page so the map is never the only way to get it.
- Some photography and supporting imagery is still being produced. Descriptions are written as each image ships rather than in advance.
- Our contact form's error messaging is being improved so that problems are announced to screen readers rather than shown only visually.
These are being worked through, and this page will be updated as they close.

How this was assessed
This site was reviewed against WCAG 2.1 AA by our web team using a combination of automated checks and manual keyboard and screen-reader testing. It has not been audited by an independent third party, and we would rather say that than imply a certification we do not hold.
